18 Mar Abbey Closure: Updates
The Community are now actively considering ways in which we can start to welcome day guests on Quiet Days. However we don’t anticipate this being available until sometime after mid-September. Thank you for your continued support at this time.
After a further review by the Community it was decided to keep the guesthouse and chapel closed to guests and visitors until the end of August, both for your safety and that of vulnerable residents.
After a meeting of the Community it was decided to keep the guesthouse and chapel closed to guests/visitors until the end of July. We understand that some parish churches may soon be opening up for private prayer, but as the monastery is also home to people particularly vulnerable to the Covid-19 virus, we have decided not to make any changes to our existing policy.
Those hoping to resume spiritual accompaniment may do so on the understanding that all meetings will be held out of doors, weather permitting. To arrange this individuals are encouraged to contact the relevant member of the Community directly. The Community regrets that at the moment it cannot accept any new “accompanees”.
We regret that the monastery will remain closed to visitors and guests until July at the earliest.
A decision has been made to keep the guesthouse closed until at least the 31 May. We will continue to review this as the situation develops.
In light of the advice given by the government and the Church of England in response to the coronavirus pandemic the Community regrets that the Abbey will no longer be open for public worship, retreats or spiritual accompaniment until at least the week after Easter.
